The frame finishes the pre-drilled screw holes of the built-in unit. The cover strip has a black powder coating and provides a nice finish to the built-in unit if it is built in from the front. The frame is simply magnetically clicked onto the built-in unit.
If the built-in unit is first installed and then the fireplace is finished, the finishing frame is not necessary. The pre-drilled holes of the built-in unit will be hidden behind the cladding in this case.
